One of our apprentice electricians, Ian Rand  was recently recognised as being the best second year student in his course from across the MIA region .

Ian is completing his Certificate III in Electro Technology through NSW TAFE and was awarded first place in his class of 20 at the completion of his second year studies.

Ian commenced work with I2R Group as a labourer and quickly decided he’d like to complete a trade. His great work ethic and attention to detail has seen his recent appointment to the position of foreman in our panels and switchboard production facility.

Ian was raised in a farming family and has always been interested in learning new things and expanding his knowledge. As a mature age apprentice, he is very focused on the task at hand and making a difference. He is now into his third and final year of his apprenticeship.

“I2R Group is a great place to work. I have been supported in my apprenticeship from the very beginning,” explains Ian.

“I travel to Leeton once a week and have found the experience very interesting. I’m enjoying the new role in the production facility and am very keen to get more involved in the design aspect of control panels and switchboards in the future.”

I2R Group Director, Aaron Webb views Ian’s success as a validation of the businesses commitment to training and development.

“We saw massive potential in Ian and encouraged him to consider expanding his skills and gaining formal qualifications,” explains Aaron.

“We are always looking at ways to help our staff with personal and professional development and the way we’ve encouraged and enabled Ian is a great example of this.

“He has taken up the challenge and really run with it. We are very pleased for Ian and the contribution he is making to the team”
